Learning chords in different positions

Learning chords in different positions

Ok so you know how to play a few chords but do you know how to play the same chords in different positions all over the guitar? If the answer is no then read on and start learning.

Lets take a C Major 7th chord you are probably going to either play it starting on the 6th string like this…

E|--8---

B|--8---

G|--9---

D|--9---

A|--10--

E|--8---

Or you’ll play it starting on the 5th string like this…

E|--3--

B|--5--

G|--4--

D|--5--

A|--3--

E|-----

However there are a few more ways of playing this C Major 7th chord. See the list down below;

E|--7---

B|--8---

G|--9---

D|--10--

A|------

E|------

E|--8--

B|--5--

G|--5--

D|--5--

A|--8--

E|-----

E|--8--

B|--5--

G|--5--

D|--5--

A|-----

E|-----

E|--12--

B|--12--

G|--12--

D|--10--

A|------

E|------

It’s great if you can play the same chord in many different positions due to the different feel that you get from the different positions. Once learning these now try a different chord and see how many different positions you can play this over the fret board.

Have fun guys
